A top college preparatory school, Hotchkiss serves both boarding and day students. Located in Connecticut, they have long had a close relationship with Yale University. Online Application Portal: You must begin by submitting an inquiry form online. You will then be able to schedule an interview and gain access to the main application.
Standardized Tests: Hotchkiss is test optional for students entering 9th grade, but they do accept the SSAT and ISEE.
Interview: Required. These can be on-campus or virtual.
Parent Interview: Not required, though a written parent statement is.
Recommendations: Required from your English and math teachers (this year’s or last year’s), a principal or counselor, and a personal recommender.
Transcripts: Required.
Other materials: Essay responses are required as part of the application. Arts or sports supplements may be included for students with particular ability in those fields.

Note that these are the minimum graduation requirements. We recommend, and colleges prefer to see, that students have taken four years in each of the core academic subjects: Math, English, Science, Social Studies, and a foreign language.
