About Memorial High School

Located in the Greater Houston area, Memorial is part of Spring Branch ISD, and serves the Memorial and Spring Branch neighborhoods, along with the Memorial Villages. It is considered one of the top public schools in the region. Students at Memorial may take AP or IB courses. It is the oldest school still operating in Spring Branch ISD, though it has received major renovations since it first opened.

Online Application Portal: New students should register through Spring Branch ISD here. Which high school you go to within the district depends on where you are zoned for. You must have proof of residency within the district to register.

Graduation Requirements: These are set by the state and district. For distinguished achievement, students must take the following: 

  • 4 years of English
  • 4 years of math, including Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II
  • 4 years of science, including Biology and either Chemistry or Physics
  • 3 years social studies
  • 2 years world language or computer science
  • 1 year PE
  • 1 year fine arts
  • 1 semester health
  • 1 semester speech
  • 6 elective credits

Note that these are the minimum graduation requirements. We recommend, and colleges prefer to see, that students have taken four years in each of the core academic subjects: Math, English, Science, Social Studies, and a foreign language.

Advanced Study Options: 

  • Both AP and IB coursework is available to Memorial students. For many subjects, students must choose one or the other.

  • Advanced science options include advanced animal science, anatomy and physiology, astronomy, forensic science, medical microbiology, pathophysiology, and scientific research and design.
  • Dual credit courses are available in all core academic subjects.

Campus Information: Memorial has a large open campus, with students passing outside between classes. When it was built there was no air conditioning, but don’t worry, that was added during renovations.
